Content Preservation
As a fundamental principle built into the repository, OhioLINK promises to preserve the raw bitstreams of objects, regardless of format or structure, contributed to the repository. Preserving the raw bitstreams, however, does not imply future guaranteed access. For certain file formats, OhioLINK and its members can take increasing responsibility for ongoing access to content. The access could be achieved through the conversion of bitstreams for compatibility with new software and standards or for emulation of existing applications, operating systems, and hardware such that future hardware and operating systems can process the bitstream.
